Travel Clinic Doctor
Dr. Yaniv Hason was born and raised Israel on a kibbutz and moved to Toronto at age 13. After completing high school he went on to obtain his Honours Bachelour degree in Human Biology from the University of Toronto. Following that he spent a year doing research at U of T on epilepsy at the department of pharmacology. In 2001 he began medical school at McMaster University, and upon graduation in 2004 started his residency in Family Medicine at McGill University in Montreal. Yaniv moved back to Toronto in 2006 and started working as a family physician, seeing patients of all age groups, diagnosing, and treating a myriad of illnesses. In 2007 Yaniv obtained his Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine, and he began work as a consultant and practitioner of travel medicine. To date, he has counseled many patients on pre-travel advice, including malaria prevention, vaccines, altitude illness, and many other conditions that can be acquired abroad, as well as diagnosed and treated individuals that returned from a trip with an illness. Travel medicine is a natural extension of his interest and passion for both medicine and travel. Yaniv has traveled extensively and enjoys immersing himself in a foreign culture and learning about the history and geography of a place that is foreign to him. As a doctor, the field of travel medicine has provided him with the opportunity to not only work as a physician in developing countries, but also to learn about the conditions that are foreign to North Americans so he can educate and help travelers have a safer and more enjoyable trip.
